2150 hosts its first Urban Impact Summit, bringing together founders, investors, and thought leaders tackling sustainability challenges in the built environment.
Yesterday (1st March, 2023), on a crisp, sunny morning at Banegaarden, Copenhagen, we hosted our first Urban Impact Summit. We heard fantastic presentations from 2150, NREP, Home.Earth, Normative, and NatureMetrics, outlining their respective solutions to building a more sustainable urban ecosystem. We discussed ideas, strategies, and updates on climate-friendly cities, sustainable construction, and net-zero.
It was a brilliant opportunity to learn from each other’s work and build connections in the sustainable built-environment community. We’re really grateful to all of those that attended, and hope that we can continue to share best practices and build a community focused on advancing the sustainable transformation of cities.
The day kicked off with Peter Hirsch, Head of Sustainability at 2150, outlining the urban context of climate change and how cities, investors, and startups can unlock solutions across various sectors of the urban ecosystem.

Next up, Sidsel Green, Head of Impact & Insights at NREP, enlightened us on NREPs journey to reach their [2028 Net Zero Pledge](https://nrep.com/netzero/#:~:text=NREP is committed to lead,both operational and embodied carbon.), outlining key approaches to reducing embodied and operational emissions in the built environment, and inspiring us with NREPs “Earth Shots”, innovative projects to reduce impact in residential, office, and logistics.
Following this, Maggie Buggie, COO at Normative presented on carbon accounting and why it matters, clearly articulating the business case for granular GHG accounting, and providing on-the-ground examples of how Normatives work drives meaningful climate action.
Next up, co-founder of Home.Earth, Rasmus Juul-Nyholm, provided an inspiring vision for their project Nærheden, and outlined how they are reshaping urban development and tackling the housing crisis using impact management as a driver for change.
To round out the summit, Kat Bruce, founder of NatureMetrics gave a powerful speech about how eDNA can revolutionize biodiversity tracking and provide critical insights to boost biodiversity and halt the ecological crisis.
